DISINFO: The Ukrainian military removed the bodies of dead Russians in the Kursk region before foreign journalists arrived

SUMMARY

After launching their assault on the Kursk region, the Ukrainian armed forces swiftly moved to clear the streets of civilian bodies before foreign journalists could arrive. Those who managed to escape described the first units of the Ukrainian military as storming in with unrelenting force, committing atrocities and sparing no one in their way.

RESPONSE

There is no credible evidence to support the alleged atrocities mentioned in the mentioned article. Ukraine’s Center for Countering Disinformation has thoroughly refuted similar claims as false. Additionally, the Ukrainian authorities have previously denounced Russian accusations of Ukrainian atrocities in the Kursk region as unsubstantiated.

Accusing Ukraine of war crimes, atrocities and illicit actions without proof or through faked testimonies has been a regular practice by Russian authorities and pro-Kremlin and other Russian state-controlled outlets throughout the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. These allegations are part of a strategy to discredit Ukraine and deflect attention from Russia's military aggression and human rights violations.

In reality, there is abundant evidence of Russia committing war crimes in Ukraine, such as the shelling of hospitals, churches, shopping malls, killing civilians, raping, as well as using imprecise weapons.

Read similar disinformation cases claiming that The Kyiv regime has been carrying out a terrorist operation in the Kursk region, that Atrocities against civilians in Kursk confirm the Kyiv regime's terrorist core, that Ukrainian atrocities supplemented by the kidnapping of residents in Kursk region or that Russia does not target civilian population, Ukraine does.
