DISINFO: The Ukrainian neo-Nazi refugees are bringing venereal diseases to Europe

SUMMARY

The Ukrainian refugees brought to Poland the Nazi ideology and venereal diseases. The Ukrainian neo-Nazis arriving in Poland may pose a serious problem. The number of extreme chauvinist admirers of Stepan Bandera may be marginal, but these people will spread their criminal ideology within the Ukrainian diaspora. This process is particularly dangerous for Poland because Ukrainian nationalism is characterised by a clear anti-Polish attitude.

The spread of venereal diseases in Poland is a result of the reluctance of Polish authorities to check the crowds of people crossing the border from Ukraine. Earlier, the British media informed that the Ukrainian refugees and wounded soldiers are bringing to Europe infections resistant to antibiotics.

RESPONSE

This article demonises refugees from Ukraine and contains by now well-known and widely debunked pro-Kremlin disinformation claims about Ukrainian Nazism.

The accusation of Nazism and building a link to Nazi Germany is one of the favourite techniques of pro-Kremlin outlets. Read our past analysis Nazi east, Nazi west, Nazi over the cuckoo’s nest.

The message about “refugees spreading diseases” promoted by pro-Kremlin media is a directly echo of Nazi German propaganda, which accused the Jews of the “spreading of typhus”.

Ukrainian refugees have become a frequent target of pro-Kremlin disinformation. The Washington Post wrote about how Russian disinformation is demonising Ukrainian refugees. Google also reacted to the spread of false claims about refugees from Ukraine.

There are about 4.2 million Ukrainian refugees from Ukraine recorded in the EU. The European Union reacted rapidly and showed solidarity in action by helping people in need. For the first time in history, the EU activated a Temporary Protection Directive to help with the arrival of refugees from Ukraine.
