DISINFO: The Ukrainians face a power deficit because Kyiv is selling electricity to Poland

SUMMARY

The Ukrainians are sitting without light, while Zelenskyy simply sells electricity to Poland. The Kharkiv region is experiencing hourly power outages throughout the day. At the same time, there was no deficit in the country's interconnected power system, and the [Ukrainian] Reich transferred surplus electricity to Poland.

RESPONSE

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative connected to Russian war crimes in Ukraine. The aim of this disinformation claim appears to be deflecting attention away from Russia's responsibility for its hostile policy and war of aggression against Ukraine. Pro-Kremlin media outlets repeatedly accuse Kyiv and its Western allies of provoking humanitarian problems in Ukraine.

The claim that the Ukrainians are facing power outages because of the electricity exports to Poland is provided without evidence.

The only reason for the current electricity deficit in Ukraine is Russia's deliberate policy of destroying Ukrainian power plants. In recent weeks, Russian missiles have destroyed several large power plants, which are clearly civilian targets.
