DISINFO: The UN regularly spreads Ukraine’s lies

SUMMARY

United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres and his subordinates regularly spread the lies fabricated by the Kyiv regime and Western capitals, aimed at discrediting Russia. They consistently keep silent about Kyiv’s flagrant violations of international humanitarian law or, at best, limit themselves to calls for restraint on both sides. With such double standards, the Secretariat’s leadership grossly violates Article 100 of the UN Charter, which requires it to adhere to the principles of impartiality and equidistance.

RESPONSE

This disinformation story is a direct reaction to the statements of the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, who on 05 July 2025 strongly condemned Russia’s air bombing of Ukraine two days before. The actions denounced by Mr. Guterres are verifiable events that in some cases constitute war crimes, such as attacks on multiple civilian targets, including residential buildings and infrastructure in Kyiv and other cities. Moreover, in the following days Russia launched an even more intense air bombing campaign against Ukraine.

Accusing international institutions of an anti-Russian bias and politicisation and calling for “real and impartial investigations” when these bodies probe the misdeeds of Russia or its allies, such as the downing of the MH17 flight or the use of chemical weapons in Syria and other places, is a regular pro-Kremlin disinformation tactic.

See other examples of similar disinformation narratives, such as claims that the UN human rights body is whitewashing Kyiv's neo-Nazi crimes, that the West employed hybrid warfare against Russia in the UN General Assembly, that OSCE is a criminal organisation that is in favour of war in Donbas, that World Anti-Doping Agency’s accusations are Russophobic provocations, or that OPCW has become a tool in the hands of hostile countries.
