DISINFO: The US continues to entangle Kazakhstan in a web of toxic biolabs

SUMMARY

In early March, it became known that American biology experts from the US Department of Defence's DTRA agency would arrive in Kazakhstan to conduct a training course for the Central Reference Laboratory (CRL-3) in Almaty.

At least 400 biological laboratories of the US Department of Defence operate in 25 countries in Europe and Asia. It is also known that all dual-use facilities conducting research programmes commissioned by the Pentagon's DTRA are under the management and control of US Air Force Commander Daniel Singer from the US Embassy in Kazakhstan.

The US is not only actively developing dangerous biolabs, but is also increasing their number and conducting extensive research. Those who oppose American "bacteriological altruism" rightly believe that the Americans seek to master all possible biological secrets of their competitors and opponents to create the preconditions for global biological blackmail.

RESPONSE

A conspiracy theory and a recurring disinformation narrative, accusing the US of operating military biological research laboratories around the world. There is no evidence of the Pentagon conducting secret bioweapon experiments in Kazakhstan.

The claim is an attempt to advance the long-discredited pro-Kremlin narrative about US-funded biolaboratories with military purposes in countries around the world, which pro-Kremlin outlets and Russian authorities continue promoting despite repeated debunking.

Specific allegations about the presence of these facilities in Ukraine have been refuted by multiple experts, including by the UN High Representative for Disarmament Affairs Izumi Nakamitsu and by Russian biologists who examined Moscow’s “proof”.

There are no US biological warfare laboratories in Georgia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, or Armenia. These countries are cooperating with the US Department of Defence's Biological Threat Reduction Programme (BTRP), which aims to safeguard global health by preventing and containing infectious disease outbreaks and establishing high international standards in biological security.

Due to the increasing cases of dissemination of false information regarding the activities of biological laboratories in Kazakhstan, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry stated: "We declare responsibly that no biological weapons development is underway in Kazakhstan, no research is conducted against any other states. The CRL significantly strengthened the scientific potential of Kazakhstan, increased the safety of research."
