DISINFO: The US created Daesh in order to provoke chaos and disintegration in Syria, Iraq and Iran

SUMMARY

The United States created Daesh in order to provoke chaos and disintegration in Syria, Iraq and Iran. Hillary Clinton admitted that the US created Daesh. The US also intended to use Daesh in the future to create chaos in Russia and Central Asia. Fortunately, thanks to Iranian advisors in Syria, this danger to Syria and Iraq was eliminated.

RESPONSE

A recurring pro-Kremlin narrative about the US promoting and funding jihadist terrorism.

The US has been fighting Daesh in Syrian and Iraqi territories since 2014 and has been fighting al-Qaeda even earlier, since the 1990s. The US strategy to defeat IS includes direct military action, counter-terrorism operations against foreign fighters, disruption of financing, humanitarian assistance, media activities to counter extremists propaganda. Along with the Global Coalition against Daesh, the United States completed the destruction of the so-called "Caliphate" in Iraq and Syria in March 2019, and in October launched a military operation that resulted in the death of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the self-proclaimed "caliph" of Daesh.

Hillary Clinton has never stated that the US created Daesh. In 2014, a fake news story that was spread widely in the Middle East claimed that Hillary Clinton made this statement in her book "Hard Choices". But the book does not contain any statement about the US’s alleged involvement in the creation of Daesh. This disinformation has been widely debunked.

Read similar cases claiming that ISIS was created and defended by the US; ISIS has been supported by US, British, French and Israeli intelligence services in order to demolish Syria and that Al Baghdadi was an American product.
