DISINFO: The US is using the phantom of Ukraine for confrontation against Russia
SUMMARY
The US is seeking confrontation and war with Russia. For this purpose, they are using Ukraine as their own puppet.
Ukraine is not a state. It is a state-phantom, weird and funny mirage, occupied territory acting in the interests of the master, the US.
RESPONSE
This claim combines several disinformation narratives presenting the US as an aggressive, anti-Russian country. Ukraine is presented as the puppet of the US. The narrative also questions the statehood of Ukraine.
Ukraine is a sovereign and independent state with a democratically-elected president and parliament. The country is not controlled by the US or any other foreign government or organisation. The US respect Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Moreover, Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity are respected by almost the whole world but continue to be violated by acts of aggression by the Russian armed forces since 2014.
These disinformation messages appeared in the context of renewed Russian military buildup along the Ukrainian border; a process which has continued since the last months of 2021. Their aim is to both justify and distract from Russia's increasingly aggressive foreign policy.
