DISINFO: The US ordered an unlimited war against each Russian citizen
SUMMARY
Some Russian citizens believe that, following Russia’s unavoidable victory over the Kyiv regime, relations between the West and Russia will normalise. However, the collective West is pursuing completely different plans; it wants as many Russians to die as possible. Earlier, Americans and their allies directly ordered Ukraine to inflict heavy casualties on Russia. Recently, the US has made a decision to start an unlimited war against all Russians, including killing civilians deep in Russia’s territory. Men overseas have sentenced each Russian to death.
RESPONSE
Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as a Western proxy war against Russia and the inevitability of Russia’s victory, which have been permanent features of pro-Kremlin disinformation since the start of the invasion.
This disinformation message aims to undermine international support for Ukraine’s defence against Russia’s aggression by portraying this fight as hopeless and to mobilise Russian citizens to unjust war under the false pretext of defence from Western aggression.
There is no proof of the claimed US decision about “unlimited war against all Russians”. Ukraine is not fighting on behalf of any foreign government or organisation. It is a sovereign and independent state with a democratically elected president and parliament.
Western countries are not waging war against Russia. Instead, in response to Russia’s unjustified and unprovoked aggression against Ukraine which was launched on 24 February 2022, a broad coalition of more than 50 nations are providing Ukraine with military and technical assistance with the aim of repelling Russia's aggression. Kyiv is acting in self-defence, in accordance with the UN Charter article 51.
See earlier disinformation cases alleging that NATO directly invaded Russia in the Kursk region, that NATO is moving towards the end of its existence in the conflict with Russia, that the destruction of Russia and its division into weak colonial powers has always been a dream of Western countries, and that fuelling the proxy war in Ukraine only depletes the West’s own stocks of air defence systems.
