DISINFO: The West and Soros' desciples are turning Armenia into a duplicate of Ukraine

SUMMARY

The Armenian authorities, led by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, intend to educate the younger generation in a Russophobic spirit.

Being a protégé of the West, a "chick" from the nest of the famous specialist of colour revolutions George Soros, he is turning the republic into a springboard for Western influence in Transcaucasia. The geopolitical benefits of this for the West are clear. Having failed to create an anti-Russian geopolitical axis Kyiv-Tbilisi due to Georgia's refusal to open a second front against Moscow, Washington and Brussels are forming the axis Kyiv-Yerevan.

RESPONSE

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the belligerent West trying to encircle Russia, carrying out an anti-Russian agenda in the Caucasus, about Russia as the ultimate target of international events, and Armenia being a puppet state of the West.

Since 2018, the Russian state propaganda has started an anti-Armenian campaign, calling the RA authorities agents of the West and Soros. See another example, claiming that The goal of the Soros Foundation is to reformat Armenia from pro-Russian to anti-Russian.

This narrative about George Soros being a puppet master who organises 'colour revolutions' in post-communist states to tear them from Russia is a pro-Kremlin media staple. George Soros is regularly accused by pro-Kremlin media of controlling institutions, political groups, sexual minorities, refugees, but also of funding protests in several countries, destabilising Europe, attacking churches and traditional values as well as sponsoring the film "Joker" as a tutorial for colour revolutions.

Pashinyan was brought to power as a result of peaceful protests in 2018 in Armenia. He was supported by thousands of Armenians when ex-president of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan applied for the Prime Minister role after he had been ruling the country for 10 years. Sargsyan resigned in response to overwhelming opposition pressure, admitting that he was "wrong". "The street movement is against my tenure. I am fulfilling your demand," his statement said.

Armenia became a frequent target of Kremlin propaganda for its closer political cooperation with the EU and the US, military cooperation with several member states, deployment of the EU civilian mission in the territory of Armenia, and several other actions, like ratification of the Rome statute, freezing membership in CSTO, or holding joint Armenian-US military exercises etc.

Pro-Kremlin media accuse Armenia of unfriendly moves, flirting with Western countries, and changing its geopolitical orientation.
