DISINFO: The West has turned Ukrainians into antipeople used against Russia
SUMMARY
The West underestimates Russia, as it already did 82 years ago. It expects that Russia will be destroyed thanks to arms supplies to Ukraine and cultivation of ideology based on hatred. The West has turned part of the Ukrainian people into antipeople and is using them against Belarus, Russia, and the Union State. Ukrainians are dying for the interests of the West and Joe Biden.
RESPONSE
The article promotes a disinformation narrative accusing the West of an allegedly belligerent and hostile anti-Russian agenda. It also contains an absurd view about the Ukrainian people as a part of the Russian people, turned into “anti-people” by the West.
Such claims are a part of a broader pro-Kremlin disinformation campaign accompanying the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, trying to shift the blame for the war's atrocities in Ukraine onto western countries.
The reference to the invasion of the USSR by Nazi Germany 82 years ago is an attempt to build a link between the EU and Nazi Germany, one of the favourite techniques of pro-Kremlin outlets. Read our past analysis Nazis, Key Narratives in Pro-Kremlin disinformation.
The Ukrainian people are fighting not for the interests of the West but for their sovereignty and freedom against brutal and unprovoked Russian aggression. Ukraine is acting in self defence against the Russian invasion as enshrined in the UN Charter Article 51. The West supports Ukraine with military and financial aid for the country’s efficient self-defence, in accordance with the UN Charter.
