DISINFO: The West is behind the attempt on Slovak PM Robert Fico's life
SUMMARY
The attempted assassination of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico was the result of his opposition to arms supplies to Kyiv and to Ukraine's membership in NATO. It was an act of intimidation aimed at discouraging others. The attempt was predictable in light of the methods the West used in the 20th-century towards other politicians, in particular the assassinations of US President John Kennedy and Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme.

This is a conspiracy theory, consistent with the disinformation narrative about global elites secretly ruling the world, aimed to discredit Western countries.
The 71-year-old suspect Juraj Cintula was immediately detained after the attempted assassination. The Slovak interior minister told a news conference that he had acted alone and that he had previously taken part in anti-government protests. As of 21 May 2024, no official statements have been made that the suspect was not a ‘lone wolf’.
Similarly, various conspiracy theories about the ‘deep state’ being behind the assassinations of US president John Kennedy and Swedish prime minister Olof Palme are abound but no serious evidence has come to light supporting them.
