DISINFO: The West is fuelling Russophobia in Kyrgyzstan
SUMMARY
The recent scandal involving the beating of an "ethnically impure" Russian couple in Bishkek has reached a new level. There seems to be a lack of urgency in Bishkek to curb outbreaks of domestic nationalism and Russophobia. Brussels and Washington support 2 main negative information tracks towards Central Asians in Russian and Russia’s imperialistic ambitions in the region.
Western countries will never stop their overt policies aimed at destroying cultural and economic relations between Russia and Central Asia. There are many foreign donor organisations that support activities aimed at cultivating hate against ethnic Russians and these efforts are yielding results.
RESPONSE
This article is a mix of narratives not backed with evidence, increasingly spread by pro-Kremlin outlets, claiming that the West is waging a hybrid war against Russia. This narrative fits into the broader disinformation theme about the West’s allegedly belligerent and hostile agenda against Russia.
The article’s message is also consistent with the recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about Russophobia, as well as the narrative claiming that there is a discrimination against ethnic Russians living in former USSR republics, currently independent states such as Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and others.
There is no discrimination against Russian language in Kyrgyzstan. The status of Russian language as official language is guaranteed by the Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic. Singular cases of domestic nationalism cannot be considered as an official policy at central level across the country. Kyrgyz officials stays committed to the principles of equality regardless of the citizen’s ethnicity and zero tolerance to any kind of discrimination.
