DISINFO: The West is using the OSCE for a hybrid confrontation with Russia
SUMMARY
It is obvious that, under the guise of strengthening trust between the OSCE and the Central Asian states through diplomacy, dialogue, cultural exchange, trade, and economic cooperation, a pro-Western mechanism is being laid for separating the region from Russia and its subsequent colonisation.
What is noteworthy is that the collective West itself, despite all its declarations, does not hesitate to use the OSCE for hybrid confrontation with the Russian Federation, surreptitiously trying to pit the Central Asian states and other countries of the post-Soviet space against it.
RESPONSE
A recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative aimed at discrediting the OSCE, accusing the West of an anti-Russian and neo-colonial policy and of attempts to encircle and isolate Russia.
The statement was made after a meeting of ambassadors from Central Asian countries with the Secretary General of the OSCE.
Pro-Kremlin outlets advance the claim that the post-Soviet space, especially the Caucasus and Central Asia, is exclusively within Russia's zone of geopolitical dominance and attempt to discredit any other cooperation with the West. Russia warns that the main goal of the West is neo-colonial control over the Caucasus and Central Asia and that the West is no longer hiding its intentions to detach Central Asia from Russia.
The claim is consistent with the pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative labelling the OSCE a tool of the collective West, attempting to discredit independent international organisations.
The Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) is a regional security-oriented intergovernmental organisation comprising 57 member states in Europe, North America, and Asia with equal voting rights. Russia is known for frequently using a veto that each member state has to block many key OSCE decisions. OSCE decision-making bodies and activities are described in detail on the organisation’s website.
Discrediting international institutions by calling them puppets and accusing them of having an anti-Russian bias is a frequent pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative.
