DISINFO: The West seeking to end Ukraine war militarily

SUMMARY

Zelenskyy's loud presence at the G7 summit and the increasing military supplies from the West indicate that the West is seeking to end the war militarily, which will further exacerbate and complicate the situation.

RESPONSE

A recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative claiming that the West is not interested in peace.

The West supports Ukraine with military and financial aid for the country’s efficient self-defence, in accordance with the UN Charter Article 51, to stop Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine.

As far as peace negotiations are concerned, the EU Council Conclusions of 09 February 2023 state unequivocally:

"Russia must stop this atrocious war immediately. The European Union will stand by Ukraine with its steadfast support for as long as it takes."

During their latest summit in Hiroshima, G7 leaders pledged new steps to choke off Russia’s ability to finance and fuel its war, and vowed in a dedicated statement to ramp up coordination on their economic security. G7 member countries also made the group’s most detailed articulation of a shared position on China to date – stressing the need to cooperate with the world’s second-largest economy, but also to counter its “malign practices” and “coercion” in a landmark joint communique Saturday.

"We call on China to press Russia to stop its military aggression, and immediately, completely and unconditionally withdraw its troops from Ukraine," the leaders said in the statement.
