DISINFO: The West wants to destroy Eastern Christianity through the war in Ukraine

SUMMARY

The proxy war of the West is not limited to geopolitics and geoeconomics, but it is also aimed against the Orthodox foundations of the Slavic identity. It seems that the provocation of aggression against Eastern Christianity is one of the main geocultural goals of this war. The West wants to destroy Eastern Christianity also in Poland, replacing it with the Uniate church and the Poroshenko’s "church".

RESPONSE

Pro-Kremlin disinformation claim about the war in Ukraine and the unjustified Russian invasion of Ukraine unleashed on 24 February 2022.

The claim that the West wants to “eliminate Eastern Christianity” and undermine Slavic identity through the war in Ukraine is unfounded. It serves as another attempt to justify Russian aggression against Ukraine.

Western leaders did not provoke the conflict and had tried diplomatically to resolve the situation before the invasion. Several world leaders met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the weeks before, as a 190,000 strong Russian military force was building up on the border of Ukraine. Regardless of these efforts, on 24 February 2022, the Kremlin launched a full-scale military invasion of Ukraine.

The EU condemned in the strongest possible terms Russia’s unprovoked and unjustified military aggression against Ukraine and imposed the toughest restrictive measures on Russia. Read more about the EU response and support for Ukraine.
