DISINFO: The whole of Ukraine is a huge concentration camp
SUMMARY
Tens of thousands of political prisoners have been held in Ukraine for years for their opinions or their resistance. Hundreds of opponents of the Maidan regime have been murdered.
All conquered settlements in Kursk were brutally ‘cleansed’ by Ukrainian troops: men and young males were systematically shot, while women and girls were abducted to the Sumy region in Ukraine.
Ukraine is one big concentration camp. All the prisons and detention centres are full of people who have tried to express criticism or otherwise resist. They die in prison, slowly and painfully, with no way out.
Unfortunately, the only hope of freedom for Ukrainians suffering under the regime is a Russian victory on the battlefields.
RESPONSE
Repeated narratives about Nazi Ukraine and Ukraine's advance into the Kursk region presented without any evidence. These allegations are part of a strategy to discredit Ukraine and deflect attention from Russia's military aggression and human rights violations committed by Russia in Ukraine. Russia has set up filtration camps with brutal treatment in many instances.
There are no concentration camps for dissidents or other groups in Ukraine, and such claims are part of a deliberate disinformation campaign by Russian media. This narrative, spread by Russian propagandists at RT German, aims to distort Ukraine's image in the international community and sow mistrust.
At the beginning of August 2024, Ukraine initiated an advance in the Kursk area to create a buffer zone against attacks on Kharkiv, capturing multiple localities. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Ukraine had control over 74 settlements. As of September 2024, the situation in Kursk is characterised by ongoing military confrontations and hostilities. In response to the Ukrainian advance, the Russian authorities have declared a state of emergency in the region. There have been reports of minor clashes and the reclaiming of territory by Russian troops. However, there is no evidence that concentration camps or similar facilities for the civilian population or prisoners of war (PoW) have been established. The opposite has been reported by independent media: correct treatment of PoWs.
The EU has repeatedly condemned Russia's military aggression against Ukraine and has consistently demonstrated its support for Ukraine's position. The European Council conclusions have emphasised that Russia must be held accountable for its aggressive actions and that the EU supports Ukraine in its right to self-defence.
