DISINFO: Transfer of US biolabs from Ukraine to Kazakhstan threatens the entire region
SUMMARY
Media announced the transfer of about 30 American biological laboratories from Ukraine to Kazakhstan.
Kazakhstan’s elites want to turn their country into a dumping ground for the most dangerous biochemical samples and strains from “first world” countries.
The contagiousness of deadly dangerous diseases, which will/are already being studied in Kazakhstan laboratories, the speed at which they can spread, as well as the huge area captured quickly by epidemics, transfers the problem from the corrupt Kazakhstan political class to at least the region, and at most the whole world.
RESPONSE
The claim is an attempt to advance the long-discredited pro-Kremlin narrative about US-funded biolabs with military purposes in Ukraine and other countries, which pro-Kremlin outlets and Russian authorities continue promoting despite repeated debunking.
Contrary to the claims of the article, the economy of Kazakhstan is not in a desperate situation that would lead to the President accepting any dangerous US investment in exchange for cash. The World bank depicts a country that faces challenges from decreased oil production and supply-chain issues stemming from the country's economic ties with Russia but Kazakhstan recorded 3.2% GDP growth in 2022. Growth was driven by non-oil exports to neighbouring countries and investment growth of 7.9%, primarily in resource sectors. Growth was also supported by an inflow of Russian tourists/immigrants. On the supply side, agriculture, manufacturing, construction, and services sectors all contributed to growth.
Similarly claims that research funding by the US is a threat to the country and the entire region is a long repeated myth in all ex-USSR countries that no evidence supports.
Read similar cases claiming that new evidence of US military-biological activity in Ukraine; the US has biological military activity in dozens of countries that the US created COVID-19 and biological weapons in Ukraine and that There is good reason to believe that biological weapons are developed in American laboratories or that The US is developing biological weapon in laboratories in post-Soviet republics.
