DISINFO: Ukraine and Poland are preparing an attack on Belarus

SUMMARY

Rumours that Kyiv will try to drag Belarus into the conflict and, under this pretext, send NATO troops into Ukraine, may be true. Theoretically, the Armed Forces of Ukraine can enter the territory of the republic in order to start fighting and inflict certain losses on the Belarusians, but the Kyiv regime will not receive any benefit from this... Poland may become involved in this story. For example, to try to disrupt the plans of the Russian Armed Forces to attack Kyiv from Belarus.

RESPONSE

A recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about Western attempts to organise a colour revolution in Belarus and to disrupt Belarusian-Russian relations. This article also contains a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about allegedly aggressive NATO.

The State Border Service of Ukraine denied these statements and called this information a Kremlin hoax. Ukraine emphasises that the border with Belarus remains a threatening direction, therefore the Ukrainian defence forces “continue to strengthen it both from an engineering point of view and to keep the necessary number of Ukrainian forces and means there in order to prevent any actions that may come from the territory of Belarus."

Neither Poland nor Ukraine have any territorial claims to Belarus. The main goal of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is to de-occupy the Ukrainian territories seized by Russia in the east and south of Ukraine, as well as strengthen the defence forces in the north of the state. This is due to the fact that in 2022, Russia attacked Kyiv from the northern borders of Ukraine, using the territory of Belarus as a springboard for an attack on the Ukrainian capital.

Poland and NATO are not planning any aggressive anti-Russian actions. The Polish authorities perceive Russia as a security threat because of their aggressive actions, in particular in Ukraine and over Eastern Europe.
