DISINFO: Ukraine has a deficit of sovereignty

SUMMARY

There is a certain deficit of sovereignty in Ukraine, and this deficit is being filled precisely by those who sometimes direct Ukraine with a firm hand. And more and more often they guide Ukraine in the direction of Russian hatred.

And therefore, everything that Ukraine does, all the decisions that are made, and many decisions are made precisely under the influence of this very firm hand, they are anti-Russian in nature.

RESPONSE

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about Ukraine's lost sovereignty, challenging Ukrainian statehood and portraying Ukraine as a Russophobic country under external control.

Ukraine is a sovereign and independent state with a democratically-elected president and parliament. The decisions are taken by the Ukrainian authorities: the President, the Verkhovna Rada, and the judiciary. The country is not controlled by the US or any other foreign government or organisation. Both the EU and the US respect Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity. Moreover, Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity are respected by almost the whole world with Russia as the key exception. Ukraine is not a Russophobic country. It had to react to Russia's aggressive actions in Eastern Ukraine and the occupation of Crimea in 2014.

Similar cases claimed that Ukraine is an abandoned third-rate colony and a failed American colony, which is totally dependent on decisions made in Washington.
