DISINFO: Ukraine has become a vassal of Germany

SUMMARY

Ukraine has become a vassal of Germany.

It reflects the basically colonial system of the geopolitical chain of vassals and overlords that exists in the world. The USA gives Germany direct commands. But the Germans also behave in the same way towards Ukraine; supposedly they know better what should be right for the country. That is the purpose of the current geopolitical system, and that cannot be said out loud in Europe.

RESPONSE

No evidence provided. Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives about the EU and US relations with Ukraine and Ukrainian statehood.

Ukraine is a sovereign state. Neither US, nor the EU countries in general or Germany in particular control Ukraine. Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity are respected by most of the free world, but were violated by Russia in 2014.

Moreover, Germany is very keen to see a stable, democratic and economically flourishing Ukraine. The German Government is assisting Ukraine’s transition to a market economy and its efforts to move closer to European structures. In the wake of Russia’s annexation of the Crimean Peninsula in contravention of international law and in light of the military conflict in eastern Ukraine that has claimed large numbers of victims, Germany is seeking to reach a peaceful settlement of the crisis in close cooperation with its European and international partners, especially within the framework of what is known as the Normandy format (Germany, France, Ukraine and Russia).

For the EU countries Ukraine is a priority partner. In June 2014, EU and Ukraine signed an Association Agreement, including a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA), which promotes deeper political ties, stronger economic links and the respect for common values.
