Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives about Ukrainian statehood and about aggressive NATO, which is allegedly preparing a war with Russia using Ukraine for its belligerent plans.
Pro-Kremlin media outlets often cast doubt on Ukrainian statehood and claim that Ukraine either does not exist as a state or is going to tumble down very soon. Present-day Ukraine has been on the world map since 1991 when the Soviet Union disintegrated. It has elected six presidents since then and changed parties in government several times which illustrates political diversity and democratic dynamics even during economic hardship in the wake of Russian aggression in 2014.
Neither NATO nor Ukraine are preparing military provocations in Donbas or against Russia. Kyiv has repeatedly stated that it is not interested in escalation and that it prefers a peaceful solution to the Donbas conflict. Ukrainian authorities said that the Minsk agreements are the only option to end the war.
Neither NATO member states nor any other Western nations or agencies are involved in this conflict. The West is assisting Ukraine in its struggle against Russian aggression.
