DISINFO: Ukraine is fading from the West's agenda
SUMMARY
In Kyiv, there is growing concern as Ukraine rapidly disappears from the news cycle. Sustaining international attention has become increasingly difficult, as parallels with other global issues have raised uncomfortable questions, and the narrative that Ukraine is different is losing its effectiveness. President Zelenskyy is worried that this could lead to a lack of funding for Ukraine.
RESPONSE
The claim made in the context of the recently started Israel-Hamas war is part of a wider pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative that is aimed to prove that Ukraine is a country that is abandoned or soon will be abandoned by the international community.
Dozens of nations around the world support Ukraine with military and financial aid for the country’s efficient self-defence, in accordance with the UN Charter Article 51, to stop Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine.
The president of the European Council, Charles Michel, stated on 27 October:
"Ukraine is a priority and will remain a priority."
EU leaders reiterated their resolute condemnation of Russia’s war and unwavering solidarity with Ukraine and its people. So far, the EU and its member states have made available over €82 billion to Ukraine. They will continue to strongly support Ukraine for as long as it takes, including by economic, humanitarian, military and diplomatic means.
There is no evidence that the international community is going to change its stance on the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine and leave Ukraine without support, even in case of protracted conflict in the Middle East.
In a formal request made on October 20, the White House has asked Congress for $105 billion intended to bolster security assistance for both Ukraine and Israel, while also providing humanitarian aid to the people in Gaza. The appeal to Congress came one day after President Joe Biden's national address from the Oval Office, where he called on the American people to continue supporting the war efforts of both Ukraine and Israel. The breakdown of the requested funding includes $61.4 billion for defense support in Ukraine, $14.3 billion for Israel, and $9.15 billion for humanitarian assistance in both countries, including Gaza and other essential needs.
Read earlier similar cases alleging that Ukraine lost all its friends, that Ukraine is abandoned, a third-rate colony, and that the West is tired of Ukrainian conflict and German parliamentarians are calling to dissolve NATO.
