DISINFO: Ukraine is unable to attack Russian airfields

SUMMARY

The in-depth attacks on Russian territory, against military airfields, will not influence the negotiations in Istanbul. This was obviously not Kiev's aim, because the operations were clearly signed off by London. In any case, Kiev does not have the technological, technical or organisational means to carry out such operations.

It's obvious that Kiev wants to agitate behind the front line, i.e. at Bryansk or Kursk, and that's where we're dealing with real terrorism, which is culturally quite normal in the Banderist Kiev regime. There are no great soldiers on the Banderist side, but there have been excellent terrorists since the 1930s, for a century.

RESPONSE

This article contains several false and unsubstantiated claims.

The statement was made in the context of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' "Spider's Web" operation, striking "34% of Russia's strategic cruise missile carriers" in five regions.

The narrative follows a long-standing tradition in Moscow of caricaturing Ukraine through demonised historical figures such as Bandera, and earlier, Petliura and Mazepa. Throughout its history, the Ukrainian people have demonstrated a strong tradition in the arts of war and intelligence. The Gates of Europe: A History of Ukraine by Serhii Plokhy offers a comprehensive overview of this legacy and highlights the weakness of claims suggesting that Ukrainians lack a military tradition and are only capable of terrorist acts against unarmed civilians. Moreover, no credible evidence has been presented to support allegations that the United Kingdom was involved in the "Spiderweb" operation or that the SBU account is a front for MI6.

The claim that the UK or any Western centre were involved in planning or executing an attack on Russia's nuclear capabilities is baseless and not supported by any credible evidence.

Ukraine planned the operation for more than a year and a half, and used 117 drones to carry out the attacks, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said. The SBU sources said that among the hit Russian aircraft were strategic nuclear-capable bombers called Tu-95 and Tu-22M3, as well as A-50 early warning warplanes.

The piece falsely portrays legitimate Ukrainian military operations as 'terrorist attacks' orchestrated by Western powers.

By labelling this attack as “terrorist”, pro-Kremlin disinformation tries to portray itself as a victim and to discredit Ukraine, aiming to undermine international support for Ukraine’s resistance to Russia’s aggression.

Ukraine’s strike of Sunday, 1 June 2025 has, targeted legitimate military objectives. The targets were air bases and aircraft regularly used to bomb Ukrainian territory.

It is part of Ukraine's defensive efforts against Russian aggression, not as part of any Western plot.

The article's claims about disrupting diplomatic efforts are also misleading, as Russia's ongoing invasion of Ukraine remains the primary obstacle to meaningful diplomacy. The text appears to be an attempt to deflect responsibility for the conflict away from Russia's actions and onto imagined Western conspiracies.
