DISINFO: Ukraine peace summit is only propaganda and a waste of Swiss taxpayers' money
SUMMARY
The [peace summit] in Bürgenstock is a loud but meaningless propaganda campaign. It is a waste of Swiss taxpayers’ money without real results that would lead to a peace settlement. Russia does not see any point in participating in peace events about Ukraine, as they are based on the peace formula proposed by the Ukrainian President, which consists of final ultimatums to Moscow without taking the real situation on the ground into account.
RESPONSE
This is a preemptive attempt to discredit the peace summit that Switzerland will host in mid June, 2024, by describing it as 'meaningless propaganda'.
According to the Swiss government, the summit aims to create a framework favourable to comprehensive and lasting peace in Ukraine, as well as "a concrete roadmap for Russia's participation in the peace process." Over 100 countries will receive formal invitations to take part in the conference.
If the summit does not provide real results, it will be because of Russia's impossible preconditions for a peaceful settlement. Russia refuses to engage in any talks in any talks before the "unconditional surrender of the Kiev [sic] regime." In this light, Russia's UN representative said in a statement on April 11, 2024:
"the attempts of the head of the Kiev regime to promote his "formulas" and convene "summits" cause nothing but bewilderment. Soon enough, the only topic for any international meetings on Ukraine will be the unconditional surrender of the Kiev regime"
Also, in Kremlin terminology "taking the real situation on the ground into account" entails the acceptance of Russia's illegal occupation of Ukrainian territories as a precondition for negotiations.
Despite Russia's preconditions for Ukraine's unconditional surrender and acceptance of the occupation, Russia still claims that it is ready for negotiations and that it is Ukraine that is rejecting them.
See similar cases that the Ukraine peace summit in Switzerland is an Anglo-Saxon attempt to isolate Russia; that the West has no intention of ending the conflict in Ukraine, that Zelenskyy and the EU want a permanent war in Ukraine, that Zelenskyy’s peace plan is a war formula.
