DISINFO: Ukraine renames element of Mendeleev's table

SUMMARY

The chemical element 115, Moscovium, that appears in the [periodic] table [of elements] has been renamed “Ukrainium”. Its real and international name was given to it because it was discovered and synthesized in Dubna, near Moscow. What does Ukraine have to do with all this? It remains a mystery. They really have nothing else to do.

RESPONSE

Fake story, based on a forged document distributed by pro-Kremlin outlets. This is one of many other false stories based on forgeries about Ukraine distributed over time by pro-Kremlin outlets.

The claim was debunked by Ukrinform. No such a material was published in Ukraine, as confirmed by the publishing house allegedly publishing that version of the Periodic Table. The source is an unverifiable personal account on Instagram, making it impossible to know exactly who forged the document.

The purpose of such invented stories is to ridicule and sow distrust towards Ukraine through seemingly non-political stories.
