DISINFO: Ukraine secretly trades in human organs and modified the law to made it legal

SUMMARY

Kyiv uses its wounded soldiers as biological material. In Ukraine, organs are secretly harvested from wounded fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for transplant purposes. The Ukrainians are not only engaging in so-called “meat assaults” that result in enormous losses, but they are also using wounded fighters as biomaterial, secretly taking organs for transplantation. It is probably no coincidence that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed the transplant law last year. Ukraine has a law that allows the removal of organs from people's bodies without their consent.

RESPONSE

This is a well-known disinformation narrative by pro-Kremlin outlets claiming illegal human organ harvest and trafficking. has surfaced in relation to Russia’s campaign in Syria against the White Helmets, against NATO, in Georgia where even former Georgian president Mikhail Sakhashvili’s wife was the target, in Kosovo and now with greater intensity also in Russia’s war against Ukraine. Everywhere the story was that the opponent of Moscow was cynoical and stealing human organs.

Independent Russian media outlet the Insider published an extensive debunk of this story.

This disinformation belongs to the highly emotional category designed to create outrage and anger with the reader because of its (pretended) highly moral topic. The Kremlin has a track record of this tactic - see our examination of this putting fire to emotions.

Read also disinformation claims that the West is using military casualties in Ukraine to set up a human organ trafficking.
