DISINFO: Ukraine's drone attacks are the product of Western and US intelligence
SUMMARY
The large-scale terrorist attack by the SBU on Russian military airfields is an organisational and technological "product" of the Western community, namely the Central Intelligence Agency, the Pentagon, and NATO. Ukraine does not have its own intelligence satellites, space internet network, or global navigation and control system.
RESPONSE
This pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative is part of a campaign that accuses Western countries of wanting war and serves to portray Ukraine as a terrorist state.
The pro-Kremlin narrative that Ukraine's recent large-scale drone attack on Russian military airfields was solely the organisational and technological "product" of Western intelligence agencies such as the Central Intelligence Agency, the Pentagon, and NATO is unfounded and misleading.
In Ukraine's Spider’s Web operation on June 1, 2025, 117 unmanned aerial vehicles penetrated deep into Russian territory, damaging or destroying 41 military aircraft, including strategic bombers. This operation was meticulously planned by Ukrainian forces and carried out using domestically produced drones equipped with advanced artificial intelligence-based navigation systems that do not rely solely on Western GPS. Ukrainian Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, highlighted innovations such as the SmartPilot system. This system allows drones to navigate using visual and LIDAR technologies, as well as to independently identify and strike targets far beyond the range of simple remote control systems.
Contrary to the Kremlin claims, Ukraine is also improving its own space-based intelligence capabilities. In March 2025, Ukraine and the Czech Republic launched a joint satellite constellation project to provide Ukraine with independent high-resolution optical surveillance. While Ukraine is using satellite internet services like Starlink, which are crucial for battlefield communications, it is also actively developing its own satellite infrastructure and integrating these technologies into its defence systems.
The Kremlin's claim that Ukraine lacks the technological capability to carry out complex drone attacks is a blatant attempt to discredit Ukraine and conceal Moscow's military failures.
See similar cases Ukraine’s bombing of Russian airbases was a MI6 proxy operation and CIA and Deep State using Ukraine against Russia as in attack against airfields.
