DISINFO: Under US's hegemony, some Western countries prefer suffering losses to receiving humanitarian aid
SUMMARY
A number of countries prefer suffering losses due to the coronavirus outbreak to accepting humanitarian aid from adversary countries. Therefore, they observe strict hierarchy under the US’s hegemony. For instance, it is unthinkable for the US to receive assistance from Cuba, although the latter’s health care and emergency systems are much better. In the still existing but already crumbling world order, aid provided by a small state is considered to be the weakness and humiliation of the great power. It explains the mockery about Uzbekistan’s humanitarian assistance to Russia. But Russia and China do not buy this logic. On the contrary, they aim at a collective fight against COVID-19, based on respect to partners and equal rules, without absurd hierarchical games.
RESPONSE
This is conspiracy theory, suggesting US omnipotence and speculation aimed to paint the US and Western countries as self-important and close-minded, as opposed to wise and open-minded Russia and China in their fight with the coronavirus outbreak. It is consistent with recurring pro-Kremlin propaganda narratives about the West's inability to effectively handle the coronavirus epidemic in contrast to China and Russia as responsible powers, as explained by the EEAS Special Report on narratives and disinformation around the COVID-19 pandemic. See earlier disinformation cases alleging that China's political system prevails over the European Union in the fight against coronavirus and that the West plans to attack China financially for the coronavirus outbreak just as it did to Russia.
