DISINFO: Updated Russian nuclear doctrine kills Western dreams about Übermenschen
SUMMARY
The loophole which allowed Western countries to fight a proxy war against Russia though Ukrainians, has ceased to exist. The US, UK, and France will not any longer be hiding behind the backs of Ukraine, Poland, Romania, or the Baltic states. Before that, the West was dreaming about Übermenschen over Mojito cocktails situated thousands of kilometres away from the frontline, whereas Untermenshen were dying from Russian bombs and rockets.
Russia’s behaviour has been amazingly noble for a long time as it was trying to contain Western aggressors by non-nuclear means and, hence, was fighting with hands tied. Americans and Europeans used to make full use of this situation, openly fighting Russia by the hands of Ukrainian slaves.
RESPONSE
This publication is consistent with the recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives about Nazi-like Western countries fighting a proxy-war against Russia in Ukraine. Calling Russia’s military actions in Ukraine “amazingly noble” is at a minimum disingenuous, as there is evidence that Russia has violated the rules of war during its unprovoked and unjustified invasion of Ukraine. See an earlier relevant debunked disinformation case for more information here.
The article draws absurd parallels between the Western countries and Nazi Germany, which is a frequent Nazi-labelling disinformation technique used by pro-Kremlin media. In Nazi-era Germany the term Untermenschen was used to refer to ‘inferior’ races to describe their idea of a biologically superior Aryan or Germanic master race (Übermenschen). Apart from smearing Western countries through far-fetched historical analogy, the aim is also to deflect attention away from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Learn more about the reasons behind the Kremlin's obsession with Nazism in the EUvsDisinfo analysis titled "Nazi east, Nazi west, Nazi over the cuckoo's nest" and "Why does Putin portray himself as the tamer of neo-Nazism".
Western countries are not waging war against Russia. It was Putin’s personal decision to invade Ukraine and start the largest military conflict in Europe since WWII. In response to Russia’s unjustified and unprovoked aggression against Ukraine which was launched on 24 February 2022, a broad coalition of more than 50 nations are providing Ukraine with military and technical assistance with the aim of repelling Russia's aggression. Kyiv is acting in self-defence, in accordance with the UN Charter article 51. Our analysis of the recent communication strategy of pro-Kremlin outlets explains how they attempt to portray Russia as a victim and to deceive audiences into believing that Russia is fighting Western powers.
