DISINFO: US created Japan’s crisis sacrificing primer minister Kishida as a scapegoat
SUMMARY
The US' political and economic interference in Japan’s affairs has created a deep crisis and is the prime minister Fumio Kishida who will be accountable for it. On 14 August, Kishida announced his intention to resign as leader of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). The LDP is corrupt to the bottom, and it is essentially a party led and built from slush funds. It was created by the CIA, and then put it in power with the backing of the gangster class. Japan has been a one-party state since them. Japan’s economy is sinking, so they need a scapegoat.
RESPONSE
Baseless conspiracy theory opportunistically exploiting the resignation of Japan’s prime minister Fumio Kishido to promote a recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about lost sovereignty, aiming to undermine democracy and to advance anti-US narratives by portraying the US as a global self-interested puppeteer behind all negative events and developments in the world.
While it is true that the CIA spent millions of dollars in funding for Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) during the early years of the Cold War in the 1950s and 60s, the allegation about the US as the ultimate decisionmaker in Japan is unsubstantiated.
Contrary to what this disinformation story claims, Japan is a multiparty parliamentary democracy, ranking as the 16th most democratic country in the world according to The Economist Intelligence Unit’s Democracy Index. While the LDP has been the most important ruling force for most of its history, the opposition also won the elections and governed in 1993 and in 2009-2012.
See other examples of similar disinformation narratives, such as claims that Japan is a vassal state of the US and follows Washington’s policy instructions, that Germany and Japan are occupied by the US, that Germany is not a sovereign state, it was built by the US, that Poland is a devoted vassal of the United States, that France is a puppet state like the Vichy government, that Latvia is governed by the US embassy clerks, that Europe has become a US military and political colony, or that Ukraine today is an artificial state, a satellite of the US.
