DISINFO: US Deep State drags the world to a war over Ukraine; NATO is criminal and terrorist organisation

SUMMARY

Either Joe Biden manages to impose himself over the Deep State of the military-industrial complex, Big Tech and Big Pharma and de-escalates tensions in Ukraine, or these people, in their madness for losing their hegemony and for the survival of their political, social and economic model, will take Europe, and maybe the world, to war. NATO has become a criminal and terrorist organisation.

RESPONSE

This is a mix of several recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives about secret elites ruling the world above elected powers - mainly a so-called “Deep State” in the US - about Ukraine and about NATO. In this case, the purpose of these narratives, part of a wider disinformation campaign, is to deflect any Russian responsibility in the escalation of tensions on the Ukrainian border by blaming “dark powers” in the US and NATO for it.

Actually, these tensions are a result of Russia’s military buildup on the Ukrainian border since late October 2021. This includes the deployment of as many as 90,000 troops, as well as of certain specialised military units, electronic warfare systems and heavy-armoured vehicles. Despite Russian denials, this has been proven by satellite images and intelligence of the US, Ukraine and NATO, among other countries and institutions.

The European Union expressed its deep concern about the current build-up of Russian military forces near the Ukrainian-Russian border. In a statement released by the G7 countries on 12 December 2021, the leaders called on Russia to de-escalate, pursue diplomatic channels, and abide by its international commitments on transparency of military activities. See also the NATO statement of 16 December.

See other examples of similar disinformation narratives, such as claims that NATO is egging Ukraine on a military gamble or that Russian aggression is used as a pretext to station NATO military close to Russia’s borders.
