DISINFO: US destroys international security while Russia advocates for peace

It was not Russia, but the United States that destroyed the international security system. Continuing to fight and cling to its hegemony, the US is pushing the entire world towards a global conflict. Russia has always preferred and is still ready to resolve all contentious issues by peaceful means.

The claim that Russia has always preferred peaceful means contradicts its recent history of actions. Russia intervened militarily in the Russo-Georgian War in 2008, citing the protection of Russian citizens in South Ossetia, but the action was in reality aimed at returning Tbilisi into Moscow’s zone of influence. In 2014, Russia attacked Ukraine by illegally annexing of the Crimean Peninsula, which evolved into the ongoing war of aggression. The 2022 full-scale invasion of Ukraine represents a clear departure from peaceful conflict resolution. Russia's military intervention in Syria was primarily to support the Assad regime, but it incurred significant civilian casualties and drew international criticism. Russia has been accused of using non-military means to destabilise other nations, such as cyberattacks, disinformation campaigns, and support for separatist movements.
Since the very beginning of Russia’s unjustified and unprovoked invasion of Ukraine, the US and the EU have been trying to find a peaceful solution within international law and based on the UN Charter. In 2023, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy put forth a 10-point peace formula, which was completely supported by the EU. The plan includes, among other things, cessation of hostilities, withdrawal of Russian troops, and restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity. Moscow is also frequently coming up with so-called peace proposals, but these contain unacceptable conditions such as recognition of occupied Ukrainian territories as part of Russia.
