DISINFO: The US military has stolen 50 tons of gold from Syria

SUMMARY

United States has transported approximately 50 tons of gold from the regions occupied by ISIS in the Deir ez-Zor Governorate. The gold was stolen from Syria, and subsequently stored in an American military base, located in Ayn al-Arab. In addition, US forces had been transporting large chests filled with ISIS gold from the al-Dashisha area in the southern part of the Al-Hasakah Governorate.

RESPONSE

This is a recurring pro-Kremlin narrative about US support for terrorists that is presented entirely without evidence. The source quoted in this article is SANA, an official organ of the Syrian government, which regularly promotes the idea of cooperation between the US and jihadist forces. We have previously debunked this story here, here, and here.
