DISINFO: War in Ukraine is part of the US need for endless war
SUMMARY
US law does not prevent members of Congress from making fortunes from the growth of stock prices of companies in the military-industrial complex. For every new billion in military spending, the patrons of Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan, and other countries far removed from America receive a percentage of the profits. Those who inflate the price of military products by nearly 1,000 times also receive generous sponsorship for the next parliamentary session.
RESPONSE
This is a recurring disinformation narrative from pro-Kremlin outlets claiming that the US is waging a proxy-war against Russia, using Ukraine as a tool. This claim was made in the context of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine.
Ukraine is not fighting on behalf of any foreign government or organisation. Ukraine is a sovereign and independent state with a democratically-elected president and parliament. Ukraine's sovereignty has been violated only as a result of continuous acts of aggression by the Russian armed forces since 2014, culminating with a full-scale military invasion of Ukraine starting on 24 February 2022.
Russia is the only country responsible for the invasion of Ukraine and the continuation of the war. It has been coming up with different explanations and pretexts for its aggression since the beginning of its hostilities. Moreover, Russia was not forced to invade Ukraine. It was Putin’s personal decision to invade Ukraine and start the largest military conflict in Europe since WWII.
The US is not interested in the continuation of the war and only supports Ukraine with military and financial aid for the country’s efficient self-defence against the unprovoked Russian invasion. Not only US but also many other nations around the world support Ukraine with military and financial aid for the country’s efficient self-defence, in accordance with the UN Charter article 51, to stop Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine.
