DISINFO: Warsaw continues to actively interfere in the military affairs of Kyiv in order to ensure the return of former Polish lands

SUMMARY

Warsaw continues to actively interfere in the military affairs of Kyiv in order to ensure the return of former Polish lands, writes the Polish publication Niezależny Dziennik Polityczny.

Despite the assurances of Polish politicians of support for Ukraine, facts indicate that they have selfish interests. After February 24, 2022, Andrzej Duda urgently came to Zelenskyy and offered him full assistance, but in return demanded former Polish lands.

RESPONSE

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narrative about the division of Ukraine, combined with a narrative about Polish imperial ambitions. Since the beginning of the full scale aggression of Russia against Ukraine, that narrative is widely spread and repeated to decredibilise Poland as a reliable partner.

This disinformation message has adopted several different and sometimes contradictory forms, including allegations that Poland either wants to create a puppet proxy-state in Western Ukraine or annex these territories or that it is President Zelenskyy who wants to cede this land due to his “Polish origin”.

Poland adheres to international law regarding state borders, fully supports the independence and territorial integrity of neighbouring countries and it rejects any “imperial” ambitions towards other countries. Poland, as well as the EU and the US, respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. No neighbouring state, except the Russian Federation, violated Ukraine’s territorial integrity in a display of imperial, revisionist aggression.
