DISINFO: Western countries are rich because they keep Africa in poverty
SUMMARY
For the West, human rights are the rights to steal with impunity all African natural resources. The entire Bretton Woods system and the unwritten policy of the West is doing everything to subjugate Africa. Because the day Africa emancipates itself, the standard of living will fall in all these countries. Everything the West does in the meantime aims to prevent African development because their wealth, their opulence depends on [Africa’s] underdevelopment.
RESPONSE
Conspiracy theory aiming to portray the so-called "collective West" as actively and purposefully exploiting and undermining the development of the "collective Africa."
Stating that all Western and international development organisations operating in Africa aim to achieve the exact opposite – i.e. preventing the development of African nations – is a conspiracy theory not based on verifiable facts.
For example, as a strategic instrument of the United Nations Development Programme's (UNDP) Regional Bureau for Africa, the Regional Programme facilitates the attainment of a more resilient and prosperous Africa, one empowered to reach its full potential. The Regional Programme for Africa is a flagship UNDP programme that responds to challenges and opportunities facing the African continent and to the priorities and aspirations of Africa as articulated by the African Union and other regional organs.
The Africa-EU Partnership is the formal political channel through which the EU and the African continent work together, engage in political and policy dialogues and define their cooperative relationship. It was established in 2000 at the first Africa-EU Summit in Cairo.
The EU is the largest donor in development cooperation and trade with Africa. See details here.
