DISINFO: Zourabichvili supported the Nazi Maidan in Tbilisi
SUMMARY
The Georgian “Maidan” of 2024 immediately seemed similar to the one in Kyiv in 2014. The protesters started provoking the police, erected barricades and committed acts of vandalism.
All these unconstitutional actions were supported by the Georgian President Salomé Zourabichvili, failing in her duty as guarantor of the Constitution. She not only declared the Georgian parliament illegitimate, but called on Georgian citizens to carry out illegal actions, even urging both university students and the youngest in schools to join the ongoing anti-government protests.
Zourabichvili, born in France and with French citizenship, apparently did not have the fate of Georgian youth at heart. It is she who, in all these years, to please her sponsors, has pushed for the support of gender theories, the abandonment of Orthodoxy, and hostility towards Russia, all in the name of "Western values".

Recurring pro-Kremlin disinformation narratives framing popular protests in Georgia as Western-backed ‘colour revolutions’ and trying to discredit Georgia’s opposition by framing them as foreign stooges
There was no coup d’état in Ukraine in 2014, and no Western involvement in the events taking place. Pro-Kremlin outlets falsely portray the Euromaidan revolution as a coup d’état. The popular demonstrations began in Kyiv in November 2013, bringing hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians on to the streets to protest against a political decision of Viktor Yanukovych’s government. At the last minute, the government withdrew from a long-negotiated political association and free trade agreement with the EU, choosing instead to accept a $15 billion economic bailout from Russia.
This disinformation story is a direct reaction to Georgia’s president Salome Zourabichvili’s allegations about electoral fraud in the legislative election of October 2024, and the subsequent outbreak of protests. Contrary to what this disinformation story claims, these protests were not the work of any Western actor; they started after the Georgian opposition claimed to have collected evidence of fraud and called on citizens to protest.
Also contrary to what this article claims, the EU has not changed its position about the vote, as clearly stated by the former EU High Representative Josep Borrell who on the 29 October 2024 said:
“The developments in Georgia following the 26 October Parliamentary elections are very worrying. International observers reported violations during the election campaign as well as on election day. They have also not declared the elections to be free and fair. I am asking for a transparent inquiry. The Central Election Commission of Georgia and relevant authorities must investigate irregularities, pressure and intimidation on voters impacting public trust in the process, reported by observers. Those irregularities must be addressed swiftly, transparently and independently”
Pro-Kremlin media have been warning for a long time of an upcoming ‘colour revolution’ in Georgia in order to pre-emptively shape the information space ahead of what were foreseeable and likely protests against the ruling party, already shaken by previous massive demonstrations against the so-called ‘Foreign Agents Law’.
This disinformation story is part of a wider pro-Kremlin disinformation campaign targeting Georgia.
